Operations Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to join my client, a market leader in the design and build of exceptional spaces for sport.

As an organisation, internally and externally they set the bar high in everything they do. Their objective is to maintain a dynamic working environment where clients’ and employees’ needs and aspirations are consistently exceeded.

Over the last decade they have formed and maintained excellent client relationships leading to repeat business from key clients including Universities, Independent Schools, Sports Colleges and Clubs. They forge meaningful partnerships with key component suppliers and give a first class service that focuses on quality not quantity.

Due to an increase in enquiries they are looking for an Operations Manager to join their established team near Bath. Ideally you will have a proven track record with a subcontractor in the construction industry on contracts up to value of £2m. You will be working closely with the Director and Business Manager on a daily basis.

As Operations Manager you will be responsible for all commercial aspects of recently awarded contracts from inception through to final account stage. You will have excellent communication skills and liaise with clients and colleagues throughout the project delivery. You will have full responsibility from allocating resources, placing material orders, carrying out valuations and invoicing, sub contract orders/variations/payments, implementing health, safety and quality procedures, contract compliance/management including knowledge of contract law, an excellent understanding of NEC3, JCT and JCLI forms of contracts.

In order to be successful in this position ideally you will be in a similar role with a regional contractor/subcontractor with experience of working on construction projects. Industry knowledge and experience of working with sports pitches is not essential. This position will suit a candidate looking to take a step up from their current position or looking to take on a new challenge. You will have a proven track record of management at a senior level with good team building skills, you will be able to support your colleagues and get the best from others. You will be a good communicator, be proactive in your approach and be of a professional nature with an excellent customer focus.

Team fit is just as important as the ability to do this role, my client has excellent relationships with both clients and colleagues which they are passionate about maintaining.

Required qualifications include a Civil Engineering or Construction Diploma or suitable experience. You must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and Outlook
